Sign of the Cross
I actually shot this on an Easter Sunday morning!
American White Pelicans gliding in a summer updraft seem to be imitating a passenger jet passing above and behind them.
Great Egret Landing
One of my first-ever pics with my then new, Canon 5D Mark II. This Great Egret was headed right toward me, so I had little time to prepare.
Oak Harbor golf cart bridge
A mallard mother keeps a watchful eye on the situation. Nearby green grass is reflected off the water, providing additional and unique color to this shot.
A mother and her chicks
An egret patiently waits for the opportunity to catch a fish.
Northshore Lake Pontchartrain
Cormorant Fishing Team
Cormorants are known to work as a team, herding fish underwater, increasing their chances of a catch.
Floating and Flying
A pelican floats as a duck flies over the waters of Lake Pontchartrain, as seen from Carr Drive in Slidell. The New Orleans skyline can be seen in the distance.
There always seems to be one that doesn't want to share the feeders or territory!
Caught in the Act
An injured egret is successful in finding some land-based prey, a lizard in this case.
This brown pelican was found just off Highway 11 in Slidell, Louisiana.
This pelican's upright wings reminded me of a football referee signaling a scoring touchdown!
I love the way the low morning sun lit up this cormorant's eye.
Great Blue Heron In Flight
The variety of colors captured in the background here would make this image look great printed on metal.
Sometimes called Butcher-birds. A shrike impales its catch, a lizard, on a tree thorn. Watch video I captured of him in action --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zas8pgkqe00
Butcher-birds: they mostly impale their prey on thorns
Pelican Bill with Droplet
A brown pelican is shown in flight with wings stretched out fully..
An anhinga is perched on a branch near the Oak Harbor area of Slidell as the sun sets in the background.
